Frequently Asked Questions
AuralCandy.Net is a podcast focused on house music and disc jockey mix tapes.
Who are behind AuralCandy.Net?
AuralCandy.Net is hosted by MK-Ultra and Mesmic, a pair of Finnish disc jockeys and house music enthusiasts. They are previously known for promoting such night clubs events as Synergy, Nothing But House Music and Uplifting Beats.
Are AuralCandy.Net's DJs available for booking?
Yes - but only for a limited type of events. The most essential factor is that DJs must be able to retain artistic freedom.
The compensation is determined on case to case basis. Contact us for further details.
Podcast is a series of digital media files (such as MP3's) distributed over the Internet using RSS feed technology. RSS feed is a device and platform independent, on-demand based distribution channel. Feeds can be subscribed to various client platforms such as media players, e-mail clients or even cell phones.
The recommended way of subscribing a podcast is to use compatible media player software such as iTunes (Mac OS X), Winamp (Windows) or Amarok (Linux).
Simply add the address http://www.auralcandy.net/podcast/ to the subscription list of the preferred software.
Another way is to subscribe a podcast using a RSS-capable e-mail client such as Mozilla Thunderbird, or simply access the feed with your browser. Most RSS-capable browsers display an icon on the address bar when a feed is available. Clicking the icon allows the user to browse the feed contents.
What is the difference between a podcast and a streaming radio?
The biggest advantage podcast has over streaming radio is that it operates on-demand. When a podcast is subscribed to compatible client software, new episodes will be downloaded automatically every time they are available.
Instead of being limited to fixed broadcast times, the user is free to listen the podcast episodes whenever, wherever and however one desires. Once downloaded, the episodes can be listened unlimited number of times.
How much does it cost to subscribe AuralCandy.Net?
Nothing. Like all podcasts, AuralCandy.Net is absolutely free of charge.
However, if the user subscribes a podcast using a mobile device (e.g. a cell phone) the operator may charge an additional fee for data transfer. Since podcast episodes are fairly large audio files, it is highly recommended to have a contract that includes unlimited, fixed-price data transfer. Preferably WLAN should be favored over 3G/UMTS connection if possible.
I am an artists/producer. Could you feature my track on your podcast?
That's possible if we like your track and feel it sits well with our style. Be prepared to provide us a high quality version of your track - preferably a 320 Kbps MP3 or WAV format.
The DJs of AuralCandy.Net are inclined to a non-disclosure agreement that limits the usage of said track(s) solely to our podcast episodes. Contact us for further details.
If we decide to use your track in our podcast episode we would greatly appreciate if you return the courtesy by mentioning AuralCandy.Net in your homepage or some other instance.
Does AuralCandy.Net have a user community which I can join?
Yes we do. Anyone can become a member or invite other users to join our Facebook group. We also have a IRC-channel #AuralCandy.Net at the IRCnet network.
Why are some episodes available only as BitTorrent-files?
Because AuralCandy.Net operates on non-profit basis, we try to keep the operating costs down to minimum. Since we have a limited amount of storage space and bandwidth at our disposal, older episodes are available only as BitTorrent-files.
BitTorrent-files can be downloaded with suitable client software such as µTorrent (Windows) or Transmission (Mac OS X, Linux). While downloading episodes via BitTorrent, we respectfully ask that you keep seeding as long as possible and with as much bandwidth you can spare.
There are usually at least two (2) seeders online. If you are experiencing difficulties downloading, try changing the settings of your BitTorrent-client to active mode.
